CNC Press Brake Tools
CNC press brake tools (also called punches and dies) are the forming tools used in a CNC press brake machine to bend sheet metal with high accuracy. The CNC system controls angles, position, and pressure, but the tools decide the bending shape, quality, and precision.
🔧 Types of CNC Press Brake Tools
1. Punches (Upper Tools)
Used to push the sheet metal into the die to make the bend.
Common types:
• Standard Punch / Straight Punch – general bending.
• Gooseneck Punch – for bending boxes or parts with return flanges.
• Acute Angle Punch – for sharp bends (30°–60°).
• Hemming Punch – for flattening after acute bends.
• Radius Punch – for larger radius bending.
• Heavy-Duty Punch – for thick, high-strength sheets.
⸻
2. Dies (Lower Tools)
The bottom tool that supports and shapes the metal.
Common types:
• V-Dies (most common) – available in multiple V-openings (V6, V12, V16, etc.).
• U-Dies – for forming channels.
• Multi-V Dies – adjustable width for multiple thicknesses.
• Acute Angle Dies – for sharp angle bends.
• Hemming Dies – used with hemming punch to flatten edges.
• Radius Dies – for radius bending.
