Magnetic Squaring Arm
What Is a Magnetic Squaring Arm?
• It’s a tool used in sheet-metal fabrication, particularly with press brakes (machines used to bend metal sheets).
• The arm has powerful rare-earth magnets (or other strong magnets) that let it quickly attach to a flat surface on the press-brake die.
• Once attached, the arm acts as a right-angle (90°) reference or stop, helping you align parts precisely for bending.
• The arm is adjustable: many models let the arm swing and lock at various angles (not just 90°). For example, the MSAP01 model swings from 90° down to 20° in both directions.
• There’s usually a locking handle so you can secure the arm at the angle you need.
• A safety strap is also often included to prevent the squaring arm from accidentally detaching from the die.
• Many squaring arms also have a locator rule (a scale or line) on their edge to help with positioning the workpiece more precisely.
• Construction is typically stainless steel or aluminum — both strong and relatively corrosion-resistant.
